Roast chicken among items cleared from village roadside during litter pick

Taking advantage of the dry, sunny weather, 23 volunteers turned out in East Ashling at the weekend to collect roadside litter for the first time in 2021.

There was plenty to collect: apart from all the usual drinks cans, bottles and food wrappers, the volunteers found hubcaps, a broken traffic bollard and even a roast chicken still in its original packaging.

Bob Money, from the East Ashling Association, said: “Everyone agreed that the village looked much better after the clear-up and looked forward to being able to get together more often, and more socially, in the near future.”
