Ex-battery hens need new homes near Sidlesham

ONE thousand ex-battery hens will start a new life after being rescued by a Sidlesham animal charity.

The Old Gardens Animal Rescue Centre is urging people to re-home them.

Irene Clark, who works with the centre said: “They make lovely pets, and they will be able to lay eggs again. They just need some love and care.”

The centre, which rescues many animals such as chickens, geese, ducks, sheep and goats, have saved more than 3,000 ex-battery hens in the past.

Because the centre runs on donations, it asks for just £3 per chicken, and would like to re home as many as possible by the weekend.

To rehome them, call the farm on 07530613212.
