The Rotary Club of Bognor Regis donated the money to the Friends of Chichester Hospitals’ Eye Appeal for St Richard’s Eye Clinic.

“Local Rotary Clubs have been very generous in helping the Friends over many years and we really appreciate their support,” said Jane Ramage, chairman of the Friends of Chichester Hospital.

“It seems very appropriate that this has come just at the start of National Eye Health Week, when the importance of good sight care is in the public eye.

“Sight matters to everyone, whatever their age or interests, from sport to art, watching TV or reading the newspaper – not to mention just getting to work or the shops and managing daily activities.”

The new appeal aims to raise funds for St Richard’s new eye clinic, which still needs vital diagnostic equipment to provide the planned expanded service for patients in this area, and the group is working to raise £500,000.
