Face that launched a Thousand Guys

Here at the Observer, we're all waiting to hear more plans from readers about the guys they're intending to make for the Night of a Thousand Guys fundraising event.

Reporter Greg Miles has masterminded our own guy '“ modelled on Observer editor-in-chief Colin Channon '“ who is now occupying pride of place in our reception area.

We've heard rumours about all kinds of imaginative guys (and gals) which are in the making, but we'd like to know about all the others now in the planning stages so that we can tell readers about them and perhaps spark off some new ideas.

Meanwhile, excitement is building about the world record bid which will be part of the firework extravaganza at Fontwell Park racecourse on Saturday, October 31.

The fizz and bang of a fantastic fireworks display, with their colours cascading across the night sky, promise the event will be a delight for all the family.

But before the rockets start to soar, there'll be the thrill of hundreds of guys made by Observer readers going up in flames on a giant bonfire in a bid to set a world record.

Whether or not we achieve that record depends on the support of our readers, but we know everyone will rally round and take the line-up of guys mounting towards the 1,000 mark.

It's also a fun and thrilling way to raise funds for the marvellous work of Dreams Come True, the Midhurst-based charity which works across the UK to fulfil the dearest wishes of seriously-ill children.

For a minimum donation of just 3, your guy can join the ranks of those destined for the big burn. Every penny of the money raised will help make those dreams come true.

In the weeks ahead we'll be publishing exact details of how and when to deliver your guy to Fontwell and register him for the world record attempt.

And as soon as you've made him, why not send us a picture and we'll include it in the Observer?
