A FEARLESS father 
has shown his support for a hospice which looked after his ‘wonderful wife’.

Dave Lambourne, 74, from Fishbourne, has completed a parachute jump in memory of Doffy Lambourne, who passed away at 
St Wilfrid’s Hospice in July 2012.

Mr Lambourne jumped 10,000ft out of a plane in a tandem parachute jump at Old Sarum airfield in Salisbury on Sunday to ‘keep Doffy’s memory alive’.

Heidi Harrison said she was very proud of her father.

“Dad had a great jump,” she said.

“He said the initial push out of the plane made his stomach lurch, but after that it was exhilarating.

“He felt a bit queasy when the parachute spun, but other than that, he was enjoying looking around and taking in all the scenery.

“We are all incredibly proud of him and know mum was with us watching him.

“She would have been so proud of him, too.”

Mr Lambourne’s son-in-law Ivor and his son Tim were also there to support him.

“My eldest brother Simon couldn’t make it, but he said to dad in the words of Captain Kirk ‘boldly go, but for God’s sake be careful’,” said Heidi.

Dave and Doffy were married for 54 years.

“They were the happiest couple I know, we were all devastated when we lost her, she was an amazing lady,” said Heidi.

Mr and Mrs Lambourne originally lived in Basin Road, Chichester, while Mr Lambourne served in the army.

They later moved to Halfrey Road, Fishbourne, where Mr Lambourne still lives.

The parachute jump has so far raised more than £200 for St Wilfrid’s Hospice in Chichester.

Mr Lambourne thanked the staff at the hospice.

“They looked after my wonderful wife, Doffy, with such kindness and caring.

“They gave such great care to Doffy and they were always so kind to me and my family, at what was an awful time in our lives.

“For this we will always be grateful and we thank you.

“I also give thanks to the wonderful doctors, catering staff and volunteers.”
