FIREFIGHTERS have been at work at a school through the night after a fire yesterday evening (January 27).

Six fire engines were called to Westbourne House School, in Coach Road, Shopwhyke, at 10.30pm and put out the fire by midnight.

The fire was in the pre-prep building, with firefighters reporting there was 25 per cent fire damage to the single-storey building.

There was no one inside at the time.

The main school building was unaffected by the fire.

Parents of children at the pre-prep school received a text last night warning them not to come in today.

One fire crew is still at the scene to ensure it is safe and to give advice.

An investigation is underway to find out what caused it.
