Crews tackled the fire at Eastmead Industrial Estate, on Midhurst Road, for more than four hours.

Whilst the incident was ongoing, West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service asked local residents to keep their doors and windows closed, 'due to smoke from the fire'.

"A total of six crews (two from Chichester and Bognor and one from Arundel and Midhurst), were called to the incident at 6.50pm this evening, along with the aerial ladder platform from Worthing and incident command unit from Bognor.

"The industrial unit was well alight on their arrival, but crews acted quickly to bring the fire under control, using the aerial ladder platform to help deal with the fire."

The incident was scaled down shortly after 11pm but two crews from Chichester remained on site.
