First aiders from Chichester boost fundraising

A group of St John Ambulance volunteers from Chichester have been given a £750 donation boost after they managed to collect £1,200 themselves.

The volunteers were given one weekend in March to collect donations from the public outside Tesco stores.

The collection was the highest amount of money raised by St John Ambulance volunteers in the country and Tesco awarded the group a bonus 750 for the St John Ambulance charity for their achievement.

Clinton Johnston, leader of the St John Ambulance Chichester Division, said: "I would like to take the opportunity to congratulate and thank my team for a job well done.

"It has not been the easiest of years for fundraising, largely due to the credit crunch, but Chichester members have rallied to the cause with their efforts."

The 750 donation will be put towards ongoing equipment and training needs for the volunteers of the Chichester division.
