Every St George’s Day for the last five years, Whistler’s has sold fish and chips for £1 to celebrate the day and raise thousands for deserving people in the community.

This Saturday, April 23, will be no different at its three shops in Westbourne, Fareham and Hayling Island, with cod and chips and sausage and chips just £1 all day.

Staff at Westbourne will again don red and white attire, and this time have decided to raise money for Friend Finder, a charity set up by brave 14-year-old Lewis Hine (http://www.friendfinderofficial.com/about-us.html).

Joint owner Rana Denholm said: “We’ve chosen Friend Finder as we are totally blown over by how a 14-year-old who has been through countless surgeries for a brain tumour, can still find the energy and drive to turn his tough experience into a positive one, and help others in similar situations.

“For us, celebrating St George’s Day is a perfect way do what a traditional chip shop should do; being part of the local community and serving great fish and chips.”
