Forest fun with Robin Hood at Westbourne
Pupils at Westbourne House Pre-Prep and Nursery experienced forest fun at an Autumn Fun Day earlier this month.
Robin Hood and Little John took over Westbourne House Pre-Prep and Nursery on Saturday, November 5, to welcome over 100 children to the Autumn Fun Day event.
Led by the legendary characters, the pupils participated in a number of Forest School activities, including a bug hunt, building a den in the woods and making a bow and arrow.
Children were also free to try their hand at archery, climbing and canoeing on the school’s lake.
Marshmellow toasting, arts and crafts, and rock climbing were also available for children to take part in.
Robin Hood and Little John delighted children of all ages with their gruesome stories and bow and arrow making, while Maid Marian showed off her creative talents with face painting and forest arts and crafts.
After a morning of outdoor activities, children and parents enjoyed lunch in the playground.
Hungry after a fun filled morning, children and parents enjoyed a splendid picnic of sausages, sandwiches, sweets and piping hot tea.
Victoria Homewood, the head of Westbourne House School Pre-Prep, said: “We wanted to encourage parents and children to see and get a feel for the school in a fun and informal way and to enjoy the facilities we offer.
“We were absolutely thrilled so many people came to experience our Autumn Fun Day and made the most of the Forest School activities.”
Westbourne House School Pre-Prep takes children from two-and-a-half.
Children join the Pre-Nursery at the beginning of the term in which their third birthday falls.
Their attendance is flexible and based on readiness and parents’ wishes, though the school asks that each child joins the class for a minimum of three sessions per week.
Children move from the Pre-Nursery into the Nursery in the September following their third birthday.
