Fourteen extra caravan pitches proposed for Birdham

A CARAVAN site for 19 pitches has been proposed in Birdham.

Full planning permission is being sought for the change of use of Tawny Nursery Caravan Park from a five-pitch touring caravan site to 19 pitches and a play area.

It is also next to the Tawney Touring Caravan Park – a family-run park with 30 pitches that looks set to be turned into 30 houses after planning permission was won at an appeal earlier this year.

The design and access statement claims the new site will boost peninsula tourism, saying: “Although this does not replace all of the pitches lost to residential development, it goes a good way towards it.”
