Fundraiser to stop crime in Sussex

AFTER three successful years of murder mystery dinners, Crimestoppers is having a change of theme.

The 2013 dinner on Friday, November 22, will be an evening of fine food and entertainment based around a Great Gatsby and 1920s Speakeasy theme.

The Speakeasy Spectacular will be held at the Grand Hotel, Brighton, from 7pm onwards.

Guests will be welcomed into a Speakeasy-themed environment, enhanced by actors giving cameo appearances of 1920’s characters, where they will enjoy pre-dinner drinks and entertainment in the Fat Slam bar.

They will then move to the Bootlegger Ballroom, where dinner will be served alongside a cabaret of music and entertainment as guests enjoy a 1920s-based menu.

Spot prizes, raffle prizes, an auction and dancing lessons will all be included before guests are invited to relax in the Fat Slam bar.

Tickets are £75 each or full tables of 10 tickets can be booked for £700.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: “Sussex Crimestoppers runs a number of crime awareness campaigns and other initiatives each year, focused on the needs and priorities of communities throughout Sussex, to raise awareness and encourage the reporting of crime.

“This activity all costs money, but Sussex Crimestoppers receives no central funding and has to raise the funds for these activities from within our own communities.

“Last year 2,143 pieces of information on crimes were passed via Crimestoppers to Sussex Police, helping to make Sussex a safer place.

“Supporting the Speakeasy Spectacular will not only provide you with an enjoyable evening, it will also help in raising funds for Sussex Crimestoppers to continue its work addressing the local priorities of communities in Sussex.”
