The tenth annual Selsey Carnival procession took place on August 26 as part of the Selsey Festival, and Manhood Girl Guides were named the overall winner of the procession.
Organiser of the carnival Fran France said: “It was nice to see some new entries as well as the stalwart supporters. The Carnival Association would like to thank all participants, their supporters, sponsors and the public for attending.”
There was no set theme for the entries in the procession which left the Recreation Ground in School Lane at 3pm, and the results of the most impressive entries were: in class one Manhood Girl Guides took first place and the overall procession winner, with 100 years of Titanic, followed by Selsey Scouts with Oliver Twist in second place, and in third place Selsey RNA with Children’s Books and Nursery Rhymes.
Class two saw High House Insurance take first place, SACOS were second and Selsey Fireworks came in third.
The dance troop and majorettes class saw Wondergirls in first place, in second place were Southern Starlights, and third place were Dragonfly Dancers.
A Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit won the classic car class and an Austin Morris pick-up took second place, while a Rover P6 took third.
The prizes were presented by the newly-crowned carnival queen Abbi Robinson who was sponsored by FA Holland and Son and was driven around the procession route in a horse and carriage.
