THOUSANDS of people are gearing up to relive the glory days of the motor circuit and set foot in a nostalgic time capsule at Goodwood Revival.

For three days between Friday and Sunday, September 13-15, Goodwood will open its gates for a glamorous weekend of vintage motor racing, historic aircraft and fox furs, frocks, tweeds and trilbies.

Among the highlights will be the Fordwater Trophy, a race for production-based sports and GT cars which raced between 1955 and 1960. The popularity of last year’s inaugural Settrington Cup, Revival will yet again see a full field of Austin J40 pedal cars competing in the two-part race, with the prizes being awarded by Sir Stirling Moss.

Speaking about last year’s Revival, the former racing driver said: “Goodwood certainly has been, all my life, one of my favourite places to come to because the atmosphere here is something any other races would like to attain.”

The Madgwick Cup and the Barry Sheene Memorial Trophy will also return this year for more high-octane action, along with the Freddie March Memorial Trophy, the Chichester Cup and the Shelby Cup.

Wartime planes will roar overhead, with a rare public appearance from the Canberra XH134 – a reconnaissance aircraft with a distinctive sound.

More than 300 vintage stalls are set to trade with keen shoppers in the Revival market – which returns this year with a vast array of vintage brands. Visitors will be transported back in time as they walk along the high street, with a period Tesco supermarket selling assorted treats.

Revival is spoilt for choice when it comes to motor cars – but even more so when it comes to fashion.

Visitors are encouraged to dress up in 1940s, 50s and 60s fashion to fully immerse themselves in the nostalgic atmosphere.

Revival outfits can include uniforms, smart or floral dresses and sharp suits.

And don’t forget, there is a prize for the best-dressed, so dig out your frills, uniforms, frocks and tweeds.
