Gorilla statue '˜stolen' from front garden in Chichester

This life-sized gorilla statue is finally back at its Chichester home after being taken from a front garden last weekend.

An appeal on social media saw residents on the look out for the gorilla, which was reported stolen from a house in Cedar Drive.

Neighbour Mike Ridley said the ‘very heavy’ ornamental statue went missing on Friday night, only to reappear overnight a few days later, albeit slightly damaged.

Police said the four foot resin statue, worth an estimated £450, was taken sometime between 10pm on Friday and 6.30am on Saturday.

Anyone who saw a person acting suspiciously in the area should call Sussex Police on 101 quoting serial 277 of 03/06.
