AN EXHIBITION in Chichester continues to reveal some of the stories behind Graylingwell Hospital.
A series of artwork entitled Case Study 2 has been loaned to the Graylingwell Heritage Project by the family of Brian Vawdrey. The work was assembled during clinical research undertaken by Dr Vawdrey in the early 1950s and comes directly from his MD thesis titled Art in Analysis.
Dr Vawdrey’s thesis was posted in 1953 at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital, after which he went on to a long and dedicated career at Graylingwell Hospital from the early 1950s to 1980s.
Dr Vawdrey’s thesis focused upon three case studies. An exhibition on the work at Pallant House Gallery focuses exclusively on case study two.
A spokeswoman from the project said: “Her narrative is told poignantly through the pieces we have available to us.”
Dr Vawdrey’s thesis is also on show to help provide an understanding of the methodologies used. The exhibition runs until September 28 and entry is free.
