The walk was part of the charity’s nationwide campaign, which is taking in 20 National Trust sites across the UK with organised walks until June.

Supporters and their four-legged friends tackled either a 2.5km or 5.5km route, with both trails leading them on a picturesque journey along the stunning coastline.

Nicholas Orpin, community fundraising manager for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People in West Sussex, said: “We are delighted that, despite the chill, more than 100 people from West Sussex and the surrounding area joined in the fun at East Head this weekend.

“East Head provided the perfect backdrop for our walk. It was such a wonderful event and it was so fun to spot the many different dogs putting their best paw forward in the mud for our charity.

“Funds raised from our walks will help to transform the lives of even more deaf people across the UK and every penny really does make an enormous difference so thank you to everyone who joined us.”

All funds raised will go towards Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, which trains dogs to alert their deaf owners to important sounds such as the alarm clock, doorbell and fire alarm.

Mr Orpin added: “The Great British Dog Walk is a hugely important event in helping Hearing Dogs to raise funds so that we can train more dogs to help deaf people.

“It is also important to spread the word about the work that we do here in West Sussex and across the UK. These life-changing dogs provide confidence, companionship and independence to those living with deafness.”
