A hedgehog found rolled in clay is well enough to return to the wild thanks to the efforts of a Chichester animal rescue centre.

‘Cassius’ was stuck in a ball after a curious dog pushed him into some mud, but the dog owners handed the hedgehog into Brent Lodge Wildlife Hospital.

A few weeks on (and after a thorough wash), Cassius is recovering and the team hope to release him once the weather is warm enough.

The prickley friend is one of nearly 300 hedgehogs currently at the centre, and the team has thanked the public for donating tins of food and generous donations to help fund their recovery.
