A landmark Grade II* building formerly known as The Ship Hotel is now going by the name the Chichester Harbour Hotel.

National chain Harbour Hotels purchased the Ship, on North Street, at the end of last year, and is currently in the process of refurbishing the building.

A new ‘Jetty’ restaurant will be created and ‘further luxury facilities’ will be added to its 36 bedrooms.

Mike Warren, managing director of Harbour Hotels, said: “We are very excited to introduce the Harbour Hotels brand to Chichester.

“With a principal position in the heart of the city, we plan to maximise on this popular location with a full refurbishment programme - to include our award-winning Jetty restaurant concept.”

The award-winning Jetty restaurant concept is headed by group chef patron Alex Aitken, who is said to successfully champion sustainable, local food, and will open this summer.

Harbour Hotels called it ‘the perfect place to escape to for a few days’, offering ‘a relaxed city retreat in a prime location’, with 36 bedrooms and a private cottage that overlooks Priory Park.
