Home Instead Senior Care launches new Memory Café
An at home care company which serves clients in Chichester, Bognor Regis and the Witterings, has just launched a Memory Café.
A new series of events is set to be held at The Lamb Inn in West Wittering, hosted by Home Instead Senior Care.
The first event takes place on Thursday, March 30 from 3-5pm and is free for any elderly person to attend with or without their family or carer.
Simon McGee, owner of the local Home Instead office, is passionate about helping people living with dementia and their families. He wants to offer families and those living with this disease somewhere to socialise in an informal setting, somewhere everyone will feel comfortable.
The first event will have a vintage theme featuring singer Becki Short performing classic songs from the WWII period. Future events will include music and the arts.
Simon said: “We are very excited about the launch and already have a lot of interest from local people. The café provides an opportunity for anyone with memory loss or dementia, their carers, friends and family members, and others just looking for company, to come to meet and relax.
“There’s no pressure to do anything here. Anything that stimulates the senses is good for the soul. Our aim is to make sure people relax and have fun. That’s it.”
Experienced staff will be on hand to provide support. If people require support and transport to attend they are encouraged to contact the Home Instead office in advance.
Last June, Home Instead Senior Care was awarded The Queens Award for Enterprise in the field of Innovation. The ‘Innovation’ in the case of Home Instead is their model of delivering companionship-based home care.
It is this approach, based upon carefully matching their clients with a caregiver that makes a difference, coupled with staff with specialist training and expertise.
Home Instead provides the same caregiver for each call and they base everything they do around the wellbeing of the client. They also have minimum visits of an hour so that care isn’t rushed, which allows time for a trusted bond to develop.
