Hundreds take part in Sport Relief event in Chichester

Several hundred people involving residents from Chichester, Bognor Regis, Midhurst and Petworth took part in today’s event (March 25) at Graylingwell Park, to run at least a mile for the cause.

Three main races, involving the Chichester Mile, were held and there were also plenty of activities going on at the same time, including zumba classes and games of football.

There were plenty of first-time racers and a good amount of runners turned up in fancy dress.

Neil Redman, who dressed up as a hamburger alongside his son who came as a pizza slice, said: “I was roped in by my son here. This is the first time I have done this but I think we should do this every year.

“Whether we will do it as a burger and pizza every year remains to be seen.”

Both Neil and Harley, from Southbourne, said they were pleased with how the race went. Harley managed to pip his dad to the post at the finish line.

Leading up to today’s event local schools, groups and other organisations have been holding their own fundraisers.
