Hunston residents are urging people to come forward with any spare wood for their village bonfire, after it was set alight last night.
Tracy Newman sent out an appeal for wood on the event’s Facebook page.
“We desperately need wood delivered to Hunston field via Church Lane today,” she said.
“Please get the word out so we don’t have any disappointed kiddies on the day.”
The annual event was all set to go ahead with torchlight parade, fun fair and fireworks on Saturday (November, 2).
“We have no idea who has done it,” said Liz Kenney, chairman of Hunston Parish Council.
“Someone set fire to it overnight.
“We have got the fun fair at the front of the field and nobody there saw anything. But there is a back entrance to the field.
“The worst thing is that the fire works are tomorrow night.”
However, most of the wood on the existing bonfire has been burnt, including a large garden shed donated to the bonfire.
