The team at Waterbury House, in Ford Road, received the award from Consensus, which owns the home, along with 90 other specialist support homes and services across England, Wales and Scotland.

James Allen, managing director at Consensus, said: “There are a number of individuals at Waterbury with complex behavioural problems, who came to the home with negative reputations in particular around their complex behaviours.

“Thanks to the commitment and consistency of the staff team, there has been a significant reduction in the number of incidents involving those individuals, which has allowed them to create more opportunities in their lives.”

The home specialises in autism spectrum conditions, Prader-Willi Syndrome, challenging behaviour, dyslexia, dyspraxia and epilepsy.

Samantha Kingston, speaking on behalf of the team, said: “We are a cohesive team that works in the best interests of those we care for. We try to create opportunities wherever possible for those we support to participate in ‘normal’ things, allowing them to meet some of their aspirational goals.”

Consensus is a family-owned service provider founded in 2005 by Paul and Helena Jeffery, from the Caring Homes Group.
