She began working on e-cards in 2000 and by the following year her animations were becoming so popular, she teamed up with Mike Hughes-Chamberlain to meet the demand by creating the jacquielawson.com website.

Over the years, a select few additional artists have joined the team and the collection of e-cards has grown to over 300, each one showing an rare degree of artistry and attention to detail.

For six consecutive years, the talented team has also released a Christmas showcase of their art, animation and music in the form of a digital advent calendar.

This year, the Apple iPad has been added to the list of compatible platforms, along with Windows and Mac computers.

The theme for 2015 is the Victorian period, when many of today’s Christmas traditions were first seen. There is much to learn about how Christmas was spent in those days, with the help of little digital books for people to open each day.

Mr Hughes-Chamberlain said: “This gives the advent calendar an educational angle, which adds to the fun of the animation and the beauty of the illustrations.

“The advent calendar costs only £2.50, and that price reduces to £1.25 when ten or more copies are purchased at once. The captivating artistry and modest price make it an attractive small gift to send to friends and family, or even to business colleagues and clients -- 25 days of novelties, games, art, music and fascinating facts for just 10p per day!”

The calendar contains 25 numbered ornaments, one for each December day leading up to Christmas. Clicking on each ornament reveals a short animated story, a game, puzzle or other entertainment.

The main scene also changes in subtle ways as each ornament is clicked. It gets dark at night, the snow falls and there are numerous little surprises hidden in the scene.

Every daily animation has its own music arranged or composed to suit. Several new arrangements of carols have been made and recorded especially for the advent calendar by the choir at Salisbury Cathedral.
