LOCAL charity Jimmy’s Challenge is taking part in a variety of fundraising events to raise awareness of the work that the Medical Detection Dogs charity does.
Sarah Miles set up Jimmy’s Challenge last year, named after her dog Jimmy, who is medically trained to detect chemical changes in her body as she suffers from type one diabetes.
Jimmy informs Sarah if her blood sugar levels are too high or low to avoid an emergency situation.
On June 19, Sarah and Jimmy visited Sainsbury’s in Chichester, chatting to the community and taking donations.
In total they raised £217.
Sarah gave a talk at St Richard’s Hospital this week promoting awareness of the amazing things these dogs can do.
Local businesses Meritz of Chichester and Creative Hub have sponsored the charity by providing t-shirts and promotional material.
This Sunday (July 8), ‘Team Jimmy’ will be taking part in the Chichester Challenge 15k and 42k walks.
Medical Detection Dogs is a charity that trains dogs to help people with life threatening health conditions, giving them greater independence and above all saving their lives on a daily basis.
