A CONSTRUCTION company has gone into administration, causing 35 people in Chichester to be made redundant.

The company, Macob, called in administrators yesterday (March 4), and trading ceased immediately.

In total 180 jobs have been lost, with 145 staff being made redundant in the headquarters in South Wales, as well as the 35 in Chichester.

The Chichester branch is based in Metro House, Northgate.

Business recovery and insolvency specialists John Kelly and Nigel Price of Begbies Traynor, were appointed as joint administrators.

John Roberts, chairman of the group, said: “The prevailing trading conditions have made it impossible for the contracting companies to win work at viable rates.”

Mr Kelly added: “We’re still in the stages of making initial assessments but every effort will be made to ensure all assets are realised and that maximum recoveries are achieved for the creditors.”
