A TREE has been planted to commemorate the Queen’s diamond jubilee year.
Donnington residents gathered on Saturday, December 1, as a whitebeam majestica, a tree chosen for its royal connotations, was planted in celebration.
It was also hoped the tree would fit in well with its new surroundings.
Jim Oliver, chairman of the Parish Council, said: “Donnington Parish Council is delighted to celebrate the Queen’s diamond jubilee year.
“We hope residents will enjoy the tree for many years to come.”
Mr Oliver also thanked Brian Turbefield, Donnington Horticultural Society’s chairman, for the hand he lent in the project’s success.
