Legion’s plea for helping hand in Chichester

THE Chichester branch of the Royal British Legion is looking for a volunteer to take on the position of Poppy Appeal organiser.

The branch is looking for someone willing to spend a reasonable number of hours in late September, October and November running the appeal, which is one of the most successful in the county despite only having 49 members.

The ideal person would not be in full-time employment, be articulate, have their own transport and be good with figures. Having storage space would also be an advantage.

The organiser does not need to be ex-Services or a member of the RBL and would receive support from the branch, with much of the ground work for this year already having been carried out.

Anyone interested should contact chairman Chris Lane on 01243 739005 or president Graham Matthews on 01243 823997.

So far this year the branch has raised more than £30,000 and is sixth in the county fundraising league table.

To find out more about the branch’s work visit St Pancras Parish Hall on the third Saturday of each month at 1.45pm.
