Lions Awareness Day

Lions from five clubs braved the early morning rain on Saturday to make people aware of the service club organisation and the difference it makes in the community.

Members from Bognor, Chichester, Midhurst, Selsey and District, and Southbourne were at Chichester Cross to promote the charity.

In the last year, these clubs have raised more than £250,000 for local charities and supported the flood distaster appeals in Cumbria by running swimathons, fashon shows, model railway exhibitions and recycling old spectacles.

Zone chairman Jenni Bellotti thanked those who stopped to talk and to donate and said £185.51 was raised.

Peter Wilson, a member of Chichester Lions Club, said: “In the afternoon the weather helped dry out all the volunteers who gave their time to promote an organisation that serves.

“Prospective members were given our websites along with a unique word search or Lion Hunt.”
