Man rescued from sea near Bognor pier

Selsey RNLI has confirmed it was involved in the rescue of a man from the sea yesterday, September 28.

A spokesman confirmed the crew were alerted by the UK Coastguards at 3.12pm to a report of a person in the water close to Bognor Regis Pier.

At 3.31pm it arrived on scene, ‘approximately 300 metres off shore’.

In a statement Selsey RNLI said: “The casualty was quickly spotted and once alongside him he was recovered to the ILB and taken straight to the beach where SECAmb and Sussex police were waiting.”

The emergency services have been contacted for an update on the individual, this story will be updated when more is revealed.
