Man treated after Selsey caravan fire

A caravan was completely destroyed by fire in Selsey last night after accidentally being set alight.

Firefighters were called to the blaze at 10.36pm at East Beach Road, close to The Rookery retirement homes.

A man was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation, West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service said.

A spokeswoman said: “We had numerous calls alerting us there was a fire and sent two appliances.

“The caravan, which was 12m by 4m, was 100 per cent damaged by fire, which was accidental ignition.

“One male was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.”

Thermal imaging cameras were used to see if there was damage to a nearby building.
