An inquest, held at Crawley Coroner’s Court on Monday, November 9, heard that the cause of death was hypoxic brain injury.

According to the record of the inquest, signed by Senior Coroner Penelope Schofield, Honor attended the party with her family and three others on July 31.

During the evening, there was light music playing and everyone was enjoying themselves in the warm weather.

Honor was in a hot tub with two others and, at around 11pm, she left to go for a swim in the pool.

Shortly afterwards, she was found unresponsive at the bottom of the pool by her brother, who was walking past, the record states.

She was rescued and CPR was commenced while an ambulance was called.

Police interviewed everyone at the party but no one saw what happened to Honor or knew how she came to be lying at the bottom of the pool, according to the record.

Although the pool was lit, it appears that Honor had either jumped or slipped into the pool and in doing so hit her head rendering herself unconscious, the record states.

It is not clear what she hit her head on.

There was no evidence she suffered a medical event.

The coroner returned a conclusion of accidental death.
