The A27 westbound was closed betwen Havant and Portsmouth earlier today after an accident involving a steam traction engine and a lorry.

The crash happened near the A3(M) slip road at Bedhampton. The lorry was badly damaged in the accident, which also involved a steam traction engine reported to be on its way to a show in Dorset,

Westbound traffic was queuing back to the Hayling turn-off as police diverted drivers along Farlington Road and the top section of the Eastern Road in Portsmouth.

Traffic England said: ‘On the A27 westbound between the junctions with the A259 Havant and the A3(M), there are currently delays of 30 mins caused by congestion due to vehicle recovery closing two lanes at the junction with the A3(M).’

All lanes have now been reopened.
