The 72-bedroom Wellington Grange residential and nursing home is located on the site of the former Roussillon Barracks, in Broyle Road, and will employ 120 members of staff.

It is Colton Care’s first home in Sussex, but the group decided to backtrack on original plans to call it Lavant Hall, after Lavant residents complained that it might cause confusion with their own village hall.

Home manager Clare Gibson, pictured, said: “We are well under way with recruiting staff who share our values in focusing on the care of the individual.

“Team members include registered nurses, health care assistants, activity organisers, caterers, housekeepers, gardeners and others.

“We are creating new jobs for up to 120 people in the local area.”

The three-storey home features ‘best practice in design and architecture with the latest in impressive, elegant interiors and therapeutic gardens’, Colton Care said.
