Chichester Festivities’ showpiece fireworks finale is to go ahead with a new date announced for September.
Originally scheduled for July 14, the Goodwood racecourse concert was to have rounded off this year’s Chichester Festivities.
But sudden flooding of the car parks forced its cancellation with just hours to go.
Festivities director Amanda Sharp apologised to ticket-holders for the delay in providing updated information.
She said: “We are acutely aware that the delay in being able to update ticket-holders has been the cause of much frustration and we are sorry that, due to the resulting complicated considerations, we’ve not been able to provide information before now.
“The good news is that we are absolutely delighted to announce the Fireworks Finale Concert has been rescheduled for September 28 in its entirety. This will feature the original fabulous line-up - A Night Of Dirty Dancing, Crazy For Bublé, The Magic Of Take That, Bee Gees Magic and Queen B – taking place at Goodwood Racecourse at 6pm. A spectacular extravaganza from Kimbolton Fireworks, hotfoot from firing all four 2012 Olympic ceremonies, completes this great evening.
“And forecasts seem to be indicating we could be in for a warm September – let’s keep our fingers crossed. Tickets for the event on July 14 will be valid for the new date of September 28 and full details and further information will be sent to all ticket-holders as soon as possible.
“We very much hope you’ll join us. After the disappointment we all experienced, let’s have an even better and more wonderful (and drier) evening.”
