PARENTS and their children have been treated to two special days of play at a new community lodge which officially opened on Monday.
Little Learners Pre-school hosted an open play session at the new ‘lodge’ building in Graylingwell Park, last Thursday, and the Chichester Development Trust and local residents hosted a fun day on Saturday afternoon.
Lots of families attended the two events and sampled what the new lodge had to offer as the building is for all the residents to hire.
Claire Simpson is the manager of Little Learners Pre-school, in the Boxgrove Village Hall, and will hold sessions in the new lodge.
She said the Thursday event was well attended by intrigued families from around Graylingwell.
“It’s been really popular. It’s been such a community push here. The whole community has been involved in the build so a lot of people have heard that it’s coming and they’ve wanted to see how it’s going to look and what facilities we have.”
Claire said she wanted to use the gardens for educational activities.
“It’s right in the middle of the beautiful countryside. We are going to work with the wildlife officer who will take us on walks and tell us about natural habitats.
“We will do forestry skills. There’s a community garden that children will be able to use and an imagination garden and story telling chair.
“We teach yoga, French and do a lot of outdoor leaning. There’s a lot of educational content to our play.”
On the Thursday, children enjoyed playing with lots of fun and educational toys in the lodge.
On Saturday, families were treated to activities in the garden, including a bouncy castle and games. Face painting was provided by the pre-school.
