OLD beds from a Chichester hospital have made a long journey to Nepal.
Nuffield Health Chichester Hospital decided to upgrade its manually-operated beds and offered them free to a good home.
The beds were ‘snapped up’ by a new ear nose and throat hospital in Nepal and collected by a charity called Medical Aid International.
Emily Seex, business development manager from Nuffield, said: “We are delighted the equipment will continue to benefit people, both here and abroad. We have contacted all 31 hospitals across the group with details of the charity so we can continue to support them in the future.”
The remaining beds were taken by CHAOS in Emsworth – a centre for children with disabilities.
“This kind gesture will help us move a step closer to offering overnight stays to young people, which will help them move toward a shared living experience. It will also provide families with a break from their caring role,” said Kerry Whapshott from CHAOS.
