A NEW Mexican restaurant is eyeing up one of the empty units in the Chichester Gate retail park.
Mucho Burrito currently has a planning application in with Chichester District Council for the empty unit next to Frankie and Benny’s.
At the moment, it has a restaurant in Brighton and is an American chain.
It describes its Brighton restaurant as a ‘fresh Mexican grill, set in a fast, casual dining restaurant’.
The application itself is to install two new signs on the building as well as seating barriers in front of the premises.
The firm is seeking planning permission for the signs up until January, 2020, for Unit 18.
The building in question is the isolated block between the Lloyd’s Bar and the car park.
However, apart from Frankie and Benny’s, the units have been empty for some time, following the closure of the U & Me buffet restaurant.
An application to subdivide the empty units further was approved last year. The new application is 15/00036/ADV.
