A NEW piece of work by sculptor Nic Fiddian-Green, whose horse’s head Artemis made such an impact when it stood on The Trundle and at Goodwood racecourse, will be certain to attract widespread admiration which it takes its place at the Glorious Goodwood meeting at the end of July and beginning of August.

Named Fire, it is a powerful and awe-inspiring new work in bronze, depicting the head and neck of a horse turning, worked from life.

Nic has injected a new energy into this composition – power and drama will be encountered from five different directions as racegoers move through the members’ enclosure, from the parade ring to the Richmond Stand.

The 27ft-high piece will dominate the grandstand, looking down across the top of the South Downs towards the spire of Chichester Cathedral and out to sea.

Nic, famous for his horse sculptures, will also have three new works on show at Royal Ascot.
