WEST Sussex County Council said ‘cats-eyes’ on the B2145 to Selsey would not be replaced.
This emerged after a Selsey resident asked the Observer why the removal of the studs was deemed safe, and if it was to save money.
“Road studs were removed on a length of the B2145, Chichester Road, Selsey, prior to surface dressing improvement work,” a West Sussex County Council spokesman said,
“These are not due to be replaced as this length is within a 30mph speed limit and is street-lit.
“As such road studs are not deemed necessary where such conditions exist, and it is not for financial reasons.”
