One in five Sussex adults are considered obese

One in five adults living in Sussex are obese according to research by health experts.

Researchers from online pharmacy allcures.com analysed data from Public Health England’s most recent report on obesity, as well as national health surveys from Scotland and Wales.

With the data the online pharmacy created an interactive obesity map revealing the most and least obese areas of Britain.

The map reveals that in West Sussex 22 per cent of adults are obese. This is lower than East Sussex where 23 per cent of adults are obese, but higher than Brighton and Hove where just 17 per cent of adults are obese.

According to the map the Western Isles is the most overweight area of the UK, with around 38 per cent of the adult population considered obese.

Richmond upon Thames was the least overweight with just 12 per cent of adults rank considered obese.

A person is considered to be obese if they have a BMI of 30 to 39.9 and severely obese if their BMI is above 40.
