Take part in Wear a Santa Suit Day

The usual round of Christmas parties has begun.

For each party, we transform a large sports hall into a magical Santa’s grotto!

There are loads of fun things for the children to make such as Christmas cards, ornaments for the tree, and even a special food parcel for Rudolf to be left in the fireplace on Christmas Eve.

At each party, food arrives courtesy of the wonderful catering team at Chestnut Tree House and consists of yummy sandwiches, mini sausages (my favourite) and festive cakes.

Once the children have arrived with their families, the star attraction arrives, dressed in red with his familiar ‘ho ho ho’.

The presents are donated by many generous people, wrapped up by helpful elves and then lined up for the children and their siblings, ready for Father Christmas and his helpers to give them out.

After the party for the under 12s is finished, we have just one hour to get ready for the over 12’s party!

At the end of the day, all the staff and volunteers are completely worn out and ready to put their feet up.

But the smiles on the children’s faces make all the hard work so worthwhile.

Christmas is a magical time of year, but sadly, this may be the last Christmas together for some of the families we care for, which is why we always strive to create as many precious memories as we can.

A fun and festive way you can raise money for Chestnut Tree House is to take part in Wear a Santa Suit Day on Friday 12 December (or any day that suits).
