Did anyone else see a strange light in the sky?

I was in my back garden in Rose Green enjoying the warm evening and watching the stars and flashing lights of aircraft, both the high flying jet aircraft and the lower single-engined private planes, their different noises being quite distinct.

At approximately 9.10pm I saw a bright red-orange light almost ball shaped travelling in a straight line from east to west.

It would have been approximately 100ft high and I guess it would have been ‘flying’ above the coast.

It was travelling quite fast but the most peculiar thing was there was no sound whatsoever – it was completely silent. It would have been travelling towards the north area of Pagham Harbour when it just disappeared.

Has anyone else reported seeing this? Are there any explanations?
