KELLY BROWN Mum's the Word...Yes, it's great outdoors now the summer sun is shining on us

We seem to have abandoned our house and moved outside. And I don't think we are alone.

There must be something about the sunshine which encourages everyone to get active and get outside.

In the winter everyone has been hibernating, but this early summer we have been enjoying seems to have had an effect on everyone.

My husband, who already plays football and is active, has rediscovered cycling and is out and about a couple of times a week for a few hours on his bike.

My in-laws have also started going out for long bike rides and my parents are out for walks.

I think we have taken our little man to the park practically every day now for the past three weeks.

We keep going out for lovely little walks or meeting up with friends and family and doing outdoor-based activities.

I can’t remember the last time we spent the entire day at home.

And even if we are at home we have the backdoor open and are in and out of the garden.

My munchkin has a little cry if I try to bring him inside. He is much happier running around the garden, watering the plants (whether I want him to or not) and chasing around my poor rabbit than being stuck indoors.

He already has some lovely outdoor toys – all kindly given to us by friends and family!

But more and more of his indoor toys seem to be finding their way outside including his garage and cars.

I love being outside, but this latest trend does leave me with two slightly niggling thoughts on my mind.

What are we going to do when the weather turns bad (of which we had a little taster this weekend).

Are we all going to be depressed and develop cabin fever?

The other is feeling slightly bad for abandoning our lovely home.

Not because the housework is building up and the ironing basket is overflowing (which it is).

But because I love our house (and we are paying a lot of money for it) and love relaxing there.

I just wish in the summer our house had a sun roof!
