LETTER: Half marathon a huge success

Thank you so much to the people of Chichester and all those involved making our fifth annual Chichester Half marathon last Sunday such a success.

This year we raised an incredible £30,470 to help support our work with some of the worlds’ most vulnerable children.

This was our biggest and best Chichester Half yet, with over 1,051 registered runners, and two brand new races – the 10 miler and the Team Relay.

The multi-terrain route, which starts and finishes at Chichester College, was lined with supporters who sacrificed a Sunday lie-in to cheer people on; such encouragement really does go a long way – thank you.

We’ve been kindly sponsored by so many local businesses and we couldn’t run the event without their support.

An enormous thank you must go to: Montezuma’s, Store Property, Krowmark, Evans Weir, Covers, Wiley, Irwin Mitchell, Natures Way Foods, SouthDowns Water, The Body Shop Foundation, The Body Shop at Home, Higher Nature, The Belle Isle and The Run Company.

This year we also launched our new ‘Run for Refugees’ Team – local runners who raised over £4,000 for our work with refugee children in Lebanon, Bangladesh, Burma.

Our amazing volunteers also can’t go without a mention; from marshalling, handing out goody bags, presenting medals to re-hydrating runners at the finish; the event really couldn’t happen without this incredible team behind us.

Please do put Sunday 8th October 2017 in your diary for next year’s Chichester Half.
