Tram's off the rails

THE COUNTRY is bankrupt, growth rate is zero, inflation is rampant and the value of people's pensions and savings is falling, but never mind, let's spend millions of pounds building a Frontliner tram to run along the beach at Bognor!

All the councils are in favour and it won’t cost the taxpayer a penny, just don’t mention the Portsmouth Millennium Tower or the Surfer Wave Machine at Bournemouth!

It will be supported by the Heritage Lottery fund, a non-elected quango that uses the proceeds from a form of betting tax to finance the building of capital projects of little use; and the project will definitely not overrun, incur extra funding or require support from West Sussex County Council!

And long-suffering taxpayers, if you look out of your windows next week you will see pink elephants flying across the sky!

... My say is that I think it is fantastic as I love trains. I think it will be a success!!!

But where will the road train go along the coast? Will we still be able to walk on the prom? And how far will it go?
