Major Mick raises £43,000 for St Wilfrid's HospiceHe said: "I have started now and I have plenty of time to do it but I won't be doing anything until Easter.

"I'm raising money for Alzheimer's Research and doing it because so many of my friends have been inflicted with the disease and have died of it so I think it is a worthy cause to support.

"It's nation wide too, so what I am intending to do it to go to various parts of the country - up to Scotland to the highlands."

He said he hopes to get more support for his next campaign: "I really enjoyed the banter and the talking to people along the tow path.

Mick has set no fundraising target at the moment but expects the new JustGiving page to online within the next three weeks.

"At some stage when the just giving page goes online I will put an amount on there but that won't be for another three weeks. I'm very pleased with the £44,000 I have raised [for the last challenge]. It started off as a but of a joke that would raise £1,000 but then it took off."
