Chichester cycle lanes: 'Stop getting hot under the collar', councillor urges

A Chichester councillor has urged residents to 'look at the bigger picture' as criticism of a new cycle way floods in.

Since a new cycle way between St Richard’s and the railway station began to take shape many motorists have voiced their anger at the scheme with many calling it a 'waste of money'.

People should stop getting hot under the collar and look at the bigger and deeper questions.

‘Could using footpaths be a better Chichester cycle lane solution?'“The city has to change. People have every right to express their views but we need to look at the road space and think long term about how we all need to be travelling in the future. It is difficult and people are unhappy but sometimes councillors jobs are not always to keep people happy. We need to have a proper debate.”

Mayor speaks out about Chichester cycle lane schemeMrs Sharp said people using the cycle lane would decrease traffic and give residents better access to the city and, in turn, help the ailing high streets.
