Chichester foodbank receives help from school to put together packs for families and children

Chichester District Foodbank received a helping hand from Seaford College when Colleen Hayes, from the school’s charity committee, was joined by Sian Green and Pasquale Giannitti to help make up emergency food and toiletries packs for families and special lunch packs for children with allergies and intolerances.

Sarah Adams, process manager at the foodbank, said: “We have seen a 60 per cent increase in demand for the foodbank since last year and we would not be able to provide help for those in need if it wasn’t for people giving up their time to help us make parcels for those in need.

“I would like to say a big thank you to Seaford College for their continued support.”

John Green, Seaford’s headmaster, said: “We are very proud of our community action programme at Seaford. Our students and staff learn a lot from helping local charities.

“Students, parents and staff have been committed to donating food to Chichester District Foodbank throughout the pandemic and our aim is to continue this support in the future.

“Once restrictions are lifted, our students are looking forward to heading back to work at the foodbank, during our dedicated community support time.”
