Colourful goodbye to '˜one-in-a-million' Bersted mum Rachel
Colourful balloons were released in honour of Rachel Bridger, a young mum who died tragically last month.
Her husband Gareth and their young children Lily, five, joined around 100 parents and children from Bersted Green Primary School in celebrating her short life.
Gareth said: “She was a one-in-a-million mum and wife, she was too young.
“We’re taking each day at a time, the kids are doing OK, they’ll get whatever support they need.”
He added: “This is so lovely, it’s overwhelming that so many people care about her.”
Rachel died on May 8 of a brain tumour after a short illness, aged 36.
Special messages were sent up in the scores of biodegradable balloons let off outside the school on Friday.
It was organised by mum Rose Tipper, who said: “She was my best friend, our friends go to the school and they’re best friends.
“She worked at Petworth Cottage Nursing Home, she was a carer, that’s who she was and she was proud to be a loving home-maker.
“Rach would have liked this celebration, she’d be shocked at how many people came to say goodbye.”
Gareth’s mum Kathleen Bridger added: “She loved her family and friends and would do anything for anyone.
“She was such a lovely, beautiful girl.”
